Lois Saldana, Safe Passage Project Volunteer of the Week

6406_2014-25-02Lois Saldana graduated from New York University School of Law in 2012 as an AnBryce Scholar. Upon graduating from NYU Law, Ms. Saldana was hired as an associate at Sullivan & Cromwell, where she currently practices litigation, with a focus on financial services investigations and securities law. She is admitted to the New York State Bar and is an active member of the Federal Bar Council and the New York City Bar Association.

Ms. Saldana has a well-rounded practice that includes pro bono work. Ms. Saldana began working with Safe Passage because she believes it is important to advocate on behalf of undocumented children who do not have a constitutionally protected right to counsel in immigration court.

As soon as Ms. Saldana heard her Safe Passage client’s story, she, along with her colleague Meghan Gilligan, were immediately eager to represent her. The client is an 18-year old girl, who traveled by herself to the United States to flee the increasing gang violence in Honduras and to be reunited with her family in New York.  Thanks to Ms. Saldana and Mrs. Gilligan’s hard work and dedication, the client has just received her green card and is now a permanent resident of the United States. Ms. Saldana was thrilled when she received the news and her client is forever grateful for her attorneys’ work and the support of S&C.

When Ms. Saldana is not practicing law, she enjoys playing tennis and practicing Bikram yoga.
