On February 18th, 2016, Safe Passage Project submitted a letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee for their February 23rd, 2016 hearing to recommend that the government provide unaccompanied children with appointed counsel after they are released to sponsors.  One of the reasons is that it would provide additional protections that the released children will not become victims of abuse or trafficking.
