Luke Soto, social work intern at Safe Passage, is currently a graduate student at the Columbia University School of Social Work, with a focus in International Social Welfare and Service to Immigrants and Refugees. This week, Luke presented about Safe Passage Project to his fellow students in the International Social Work Practicum class. The class focuses on studying practical international social issues from hunger, to gender violence, and each week they address a different issue or population. This week, they focused on refugees, and Luke took the opportunity to inform his classmates about our work here at Safe Passage. Luke is passionate about Immigrant rights, and believes the issue needs more attention. His class responded enthusiastically to his presentation. “Everyone enjoyed learning about the issue and even one student, whose husband is a bilingual lawyer, wanted to find a way to get her husband involved in being a pro bono attorney.” Thanks Luke for spreading the word, and congratulations on your upcoming graduation!
