Daily Show Outing and a Huge Thank You to the Summer U-LAMPER’s!

Safe Passage, August 18, 2016

Dr. Isabel Martinez, creator of U-LAMP (Unaccompanied Latin American Minors Project) , was thoughtful enough to help conclude the summer ULAMPer’s time at Safe Passage Project with a trip to the Daily Show. These talented individuals worked throughout the summer, and helped us tremendously with our clients.

As we conclude our summer experience as interns at Safe Passage Project, we were thanked with a field trip to a taping of the Daily Show. We got to see anchor Trevor Noah and special guest civil rights leader and Congressman John Lewis.

They discussed the importance of citizens’ roles in the social justice issues of today. Being that Congressman Lewis was an active member of the of the civil rights movement of the 1960’s, it was invigorating to get advice from such a great leader.

We had blast with Trevor Noah’s jokes about politics and other current events. We had a wonderful time, and continued to bond with other Safe Passage Project staff and interns. We are sad that our time has concluded here but are profoundly thankful for the learning and inspiring time we had here. Thank you!
