World Refugee Day (by Safe Passage & New York Law School)

June 20, 2017


Training on Representing and Assisting People Seeking Refugee Protection

The UNHCR has designated June 20, each year as World Refugee Day. Celebrate by learning more about refugee protection in the United States.

Presented by Safe Passage Project Corporation and New York Law School

Cosponsored by NYIC, AIRP, American Immigration Council, and NY STATE Bar.


This training will educate attorneys, law students, volunteers and interested people about the UN Convention on Refugee Protection, U.S. domestic treatment of Refugees and the basics of helping someone seeking to apply for Asylum in the United States.

Attorneys will be able to secure a total of 4.0 Continuing Education Credits.

4:45 to 5:50 Refuge in Canada? [1 credit]

Growing numbers of people are seeking to leave the U.S. and are traveling to Northern NY borders.  Speakers would cover basics of Third Country border treaty and report on efforts in Upstate NY
