Why do reports then show that the numbers of Central Americans being detained at our southern border are dropping, much lower than last year? The answer is this: the United States has put serious pressure on the Mexican authorities to apprehend the Central Americans before they make it to the U.S.
Mexico is apprehending and either detaining or sending back thousands more migrants than they have in the past.
