In this training, Mr. Chen (above) covered two main areas: 1. an overview of immigration law and 2. suppression motions.
1. Overview of Immigration Law: This includes key concepts and vocabulary about the key players, legal terms, ways that immigrants obtain legal status, ways that immigrants can lose their legal status, and ways that immigrants can save their legal status.
2. Suppression motions: Mr. Chen will discuss termination and suppression motions for children. These are legal strategies to avoid an order of removal and is based on some type of government misconduct, such as failing to give required advisals at the border or putting children in torturous cold rooms. The training will also discuss techniques for obtaining documents from the government to help prove our case.
