Riverdale Country School’s playing fields reverberated with activity this Sunday as Riverdale students hosted families from the Safe Passage Project.
Over 50 Riverdale administrators, teachers and students participated in ultimate frisbee, soccer, arts and crafts alongside over 75 Safe Passage kids. Coach Aaron Bell led the Ultimate Frisbee clinic while Samantha Norris and Juan Chiquillo led the soccer games. Many kids also participated in Arts and Crafts in Mow Hall and all participants enjoyed delicious pizza for lunch.
According to Safe Passage attorney, Juan Chiquillo, “This is what it is all about – an opportunity for Safe Passage and Riverdale kids to make new friends, learn a new sport, and enjoy soccer and pizza in an environment that is not Immigration Court. The kids are given the opportunity to be kids.
Next month, Safe Passage will host another Amigos de Safe Passage Soccer game and in December a Holiday Party at the John Jay School of Criminal Justice.
Michael Sclafani, Emily Klein, Milton Sipp and the entire eighth grade at Riverdale Country School made Sunday’s Field Day an overwhelming success.
